Q: How do I power the RockBLOCK RTU?

A: Connect the device to a 9-32V DC power supply. It will use an internal rechargeable battery as backup when external power is lost.

Q: What are the operating temperature ranges?

A: The device operates between -30 to 60°C and can be stored between -40 to 85°C.

Q: How often can the device transmit data?

A: Transmission frequency depends on the sample interval and configuration. Refer to the Battery Life Expectations for detailed information.

Q: How do I configure the device?

A: You can configure the device over-the-air via Cloudloop or using the RockCONNECT app available for iOS and Android.

Q: Does the RTU provide power for a 4-20mA loop?

A: No. When in current input mode the channel just provides a 100 ohm resistance for measurement of the loop current.

Q: Can I use the R7 Serial API with the RockBLOCK RTU?

A: No. The serial port is dedicated to the General Purpose Data String function. So the R7 Serial API is NOT available. However, it is still available in the RockFLEET and RockAIR products.
