Tracker Configuration
Our trackers offer various configuration methods, ensuring flexibility depending on the use case. You can configure trackers using a Bluetooth app, over-the-air (OTA), or via a serial interface for specific models. Below are the primary methods for configuring your tracker.
Configuration via Bluetooth (RockCONNECT App)
Trackers can be configured using the RockCONNECT App, which allows for easy access and updates to configuration settings via Bluetooth. This is the most straightforward method, particularly for individual device setup.
Download RockCONNECT App
The app allows users to view and modify configuration settings directly on their device via Bluetooth, providing real-time feedback and an intuitive interface for setup.
Configuration Over-the-Air (OTA)
Trackers can also be configured remotely via over-the-air (OTA) updates. Depending on the platform, users have different options for managing OTA configurations:
CORE Platform
CORE offers a graphical user interface (GUI) for managing the configuration of one or multiple devices. This is ideal for users needing a comprehensive dashboard to manage many devices in a fleet.
- CORE Web Interface: The web interface allows users to view, manage, and configure devices.
- CORE API: For more advanced users, configurations can also be managed via the CORE API. This enables programmatic control over device configurations, perfect for integrations into custom workflows or automation systems.
Cloudloop Platform
Cloudloop provides a robust API-based configuration approach. The Cloudloop API allows you to manage your tracker configurations remotely through code, offering flexibility and control for IoT and M2M applications.
- Cloudloop API: Ideal for users who want to configure their devices without using a GUI, providing full API-driven control.
Configuration via Serial API
For specific tracker models like RockAIR and RockFLEET, configuration can be performed via the serial interface. This method allows you to send and receive custom data strings and modify certain settings directly.
- Supported Models: RockAIR, appropriately configured RockFLEET devices.
- Use Case: Primarily for IoT/M2M field applications where real-time, local configuration is needed.
Instructions: Detailed instructions for configuring trackers via the Serial API can be found here: Config via Serial.
These documents are written for our tracking products in their native environment. However, since our products are often sold as white-label devices through other distributors, it’s important to verify that you are following the correct instructions for your provider. Please consult your service provider for specific documentation or manuals related to their platform.
